Our Services

Urology is tasked to diagnose and treat diseases of urinary organs as well as the male sexual organs.

The Department of Urology and Uroconcology of the Braunschweig Clinic offers the entire range of urological examinations and treatment options at the highest medical and technological levels. These include all conservative and operative endourological, laparoscopic and open urological therapies including laser treatment and lithotripsy.

The operative spectrum ranges from interventions on the external genital area via the transurethral resection of benign prostatic tumors (conventional resection of the prostate as well as laser enucleation) and of bladder tumors, the minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery of the retroperitoneum (posterior abdominal cavity), percutaneous stone removal, operative correction of incontinence, conventional and organ-preserving renal tumor surgery, radical retropubic or perineal prostatectomy, to cystectomy (complete removal of the urinary bladder) and creation of an urinary diversion with a bladder replacement made from the small intestine.

The clinic has a great expertise in the treatment of prostate tumors. Using delicate surgical procedures with retention of the nerves, it is usually possible to remove the tumor and at the same time to maintain erectilefunction and continence. Another focus of the department is the extracorporal shockwave lithotripsy of kidney stones (lithotripsy using impact waves).

The Urological department has a complete range of state-of-the-art medical equipment. These include several laser devices, the latest ultrasound equipment, color-coded Doppler sonography equipment, modern X-ray units, urodynamic measuring devices, modern video-endoscopic tools and a kidney stone lithotripter. In the neighboring clinic for X-ray diagnostics and nuclear medicine, advanced computer tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging are carried out.

Through close cooperation with the other specialist clinics and special departments of the hospital, for example in interdisciplinary tumor conferences, it is possible to bundle up medical know-how and thus to ensure the best possible treatment and the latest of medical knowledge.

You can also learn about training for doctors in the section "For Doctors". The events are certified by the Medical Association of Lower Saxony.
